CMDI Welcomes Larsen Strings as an Official Sponsor of Classic Cello 2025
Bringing together one of the world’s leading string manufacturers with a contest dedicated to discovering and celebrating the finest young cellists from around the globe, this partnership looks to further strengthen the scope and scale of Classic Cello, and will ensure that the most accomplished participants within the event will be given the best opportunity to truly shine on the international stage.
Hand-crafted in Denmark, Larsen Strings are recognised internationally for their warmth, projection, and exquisite craftsmanship, qualities that have made them the preferred choice of countless leading soloists and orchestras. Through its involvement with Classic Cello, the company continues its long tradition of supporting emerging talent, offering the competition’s top prize-winners a combination of exclusive products, personalised guidance, and artistic mentorship.
Indeed, the First Prize winner will receive a new, yet-to-be-released Larsen Cello Set, a one-year supply of Larsen strings, and a year’s “Larsen Friend” status, while also being given the chance to attend a personal string workshop with the company’s resident expert, Dr Thomas Zwieg.
The Second Prize winner, meanwhile, will also receive the new Larsen Cello Set along with a personal consultation session with Dr Zwieg, while the Third Prize winner will be presented with a new set of the same forthcoming Cello Set.
In addition, the First and Second Prize winners will also be invited to take part in a personalised string workshop. This unique opportunity allows each artist to explore the ideal string setup for their own instrument, working directly with Dr Zwieg to find the perfect tonal balance and responsiveness for their sound.
“At Larsen Strings, we work closely with musicians to develop responsive, reliable strings that inspire confidence both on stage and in the practice room, because for us, it’s all about the music!” says Dr Zwieg, who has dedicated his career to understanding the intricate relationship between instrument and performer. “By supporting you, we aim to contribute to your artistic journey and help you realise your instrument’s full potential”.
Through this collaboration, Larsen Strings and Classic Cello are reaffirming their shared commitment to the future of classical music, and ensuring that the next generation of cellists will not only receive recognition for their talent, but also the professional tools and support needed to reach new heights.
