Konstantin Ishkhanov Announces the 2026 Classic Cello International Competition in London
In spring 2026, the CMDI Group is excited to announce the 2026 Classic Cello International Competition, set to take place at the Royal College of Music in London from March 26 to April 6. This prestigious event, dedicated to celebrating the world’s top cellists, will be the fourth edition of the competition and the first standalone iteration after successful editions in Riga, Vienna, and Dubai.
The competition will offer an exceptional platform for up to 40 talented cellists, chosen through a rigorous audition process. Participants will compete in three challenging rounds.
With a diverse repertoire including works by Bach, Schumann, Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Composer-in-Residence Alexey Shor, the competition promises to be an unforgettable showcase of talent. The winners will share a prize pool totaling over £129,000, including a First Prize of £50,000.
This milestone event represents the rapid growth and global reach of the Classic Cello Competition, further solidifying its place as a premier platform for young cellists to launch their international careers.
