“To have the Philharmonia as Orchestra in Residence is an incredible honour and a guarantee of unforgettable performances in our Final Round,” said Artistic Director Alexander Chaushian. “We are very proud to be collaborating with such a storied institution, and I cannot wait to see how our contestants will make the most of this wonderful opportunity.”
Founded in 1945 and distinguished by a long history of collaborations with legendary conductors and soloists, the Philharmonia is one of the world's top orchestras, bringing an unmatched depth of artistry to the concert hall. Made up of 80 outstanding musicians, the orchestra has premiered works by Richard Strauss, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Errolyn Wallen, Laufey and many others, and is resident at the Southbank Centre in the heart of London, while also holding residencies in Basingstoke, Bedford, Canterbury and Leicester, at Garsington Opera and at the Three Choirs Festival.
