Piano Competition Strikes a Chord as First Round Opens in Pescara
The stakes are high, as a €9,000 prize pool is up for grabs, with €5,000 reserved for the champion, €3,000 for second place, and €1,000 for third. Yet for many, the real reward lies in performing for the jury’s discerning ears. This year’s panel brings together a wealth of experience, including Alan Chircop (Malta), Roberta De Nicola (Italy), Albert Mamriev (Germany), Giuliano Mazzoccante (Italy), and Teresa Satalino (Italy).
Chinese pianist Kaiwen Zhao described his experience with warmth, stating that “My experience here has been really nice so far. The practice facilities are very good and Pescara is such a wonderful city. And now we have the wonderful opportunity to perform in such a beautiful venue in Chieti, so that’s really a great experience for me.”
The First Round continues tomorrow, when the last group of competitors will take to the stage before the jury decides who will advance to the Final Round at Chieti’s Teatro Marrucino.
